Duke Tops MSU & Kansas at Cardinal Invitational

OAK RIDGE, Tenn. – The Duke rowing team's varsity eight topped Michigan State and Kansas in the season-opening Cardinal Invitational on Lake Melton.

Duke's crew of Caroline Kiritsy, Caroline Williams, Phoebe Donovan, Alex Stonehill, Katie Dukovich, Claire Vannelli, Julie Rohde, Grace Cassidy and Hannah Hewitt turned in a time of 6:39.40 to edge the Spartans (6:41.04) and blow past the Jayhawks (6:53.51) in the morning session of the event.

The Blue Devils also competed in the second varsity eight, varsity four and novice eight and took third in those events.

In the afternoon, Duke faced Louisville in the V8, V4, 2V8 and 2V4 and trailed the Cardinals in each of those events.

The Cardinal Invitational resumes Sunday, March 16, where Duke will face ACC newcomer Notre Dame in the V8, V4, 2V8, 3V8 and 2V4. Duke opens racing at 10:10 a.m.
