KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Sophomore diver Kirby Quinn advanced to the final of the women's 3-meter synchronized springboard diving event Tuesday, Aug. 12 on the opening day of competition at the 2014 AT&T National Diving Championships.
Quinn, who hails from Cherry Hill, N.J., qualified for the championship meet last month with a third-place showing in the same event at the USA Diving National Preliminary Zone B Championships in Coral Springs, Fla.
Quinn teamed with Kristen Hayden Tuesday in the women's 3-meter synchro preliminaries at the Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center. The duo totaled an award of 254.10 points to finish fifth and earn a spot in Saturday's final. Quinn and Hayden's highest scoring dive of the preliminary came in the fourth round, when they received an award of 59.40 points on a forward 2 ½ somersault with one twist.
Saturday's 3-meter synchronized final is slated for 12 p.m. in Knoxville. Live scoring will be available on www.divemeets.org.
