DURHAM, N.C. – For the third consecutive year, the Duke baseball program is partnering with the Vs. Cancer Foundation, a non-profit organization that empowers athletes and communities to fund childhood cancer efforts.
The Duke players and coaches will shave their heads with the help of Great Clips in support of children battling cancer following the Blue Devils' game against Virginia Tech April 26 at Jack Coombs Field.
The Blue Devils are accepting donations in conjunction with the Vs. Cancer Foundation with proceeds going to the pediatric oncology unit at the Duke Children's Hospital and national childhood cancer research. To make a donation, please visit http://team.vs-cancer.org/duke.
“Duke baseball is honored and humbled to partner with Vs. Cancer for the third straight year to support the Duke Children's Hospital,” said head coach Chris Pollard. “Both Vs. Cancer and Duke Children's Hospital are doing incredible things to eradicate pediatric cancer. We are thrilled to be their partner in the fight.”
Over the past two years, Duke baseball has raised $28,169 for childhood cancer. The Blue Devils hope to raise an additional $8,000 during this year's fundraiser.
The Vs. Cancer Foundation was founded by Chase Jones, a cancer survivor and former North Carolina baseball player. For more information about the Vs. Cancer Foundation, please visit http://vs-cancer.org.
