DURHAM, N.C.— Duke University was selected as the No. 5 overall seed in the 2015 NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Tournament and will host Ohio State in Koskinen Stadium Saturday, May 9 at 7:30 p.m. on ESPNU. The Blue Devils earned an at-large bid to the NCAA postseason event.
Tickets for the game are $10 for adults and $5 for students and senior citizens. Fans can purchase tickets at GoDuke.com or by calling the Duke ticket office at 1-877-375-3853. The game will be televised live by ESPNU.
The Blue Devils are making their 19th appearance in the NCAA Tournament and are the two-time reigning NCAA champions. Duke is 32-15 all-time in NCAA postseason play and is riding an eight-game win streak in the tournament. The Blue Devils haven't lost a game in the month of May since May 26, 2-12 in the NCAA semifinals. Duke is 8-3 as the No. 5 seed. The Blue Devils won the 2010 NCAA title as the fifth seed.
Duke will face Ohio State for the second time in NCAA Tournament history. The Blue Devils defeated the Buckeyes in the 2008 NCAA quarterfinal 21-10. Duke leads the overall series 7-2 with the most recent meeting being the 2008 matchup in Ithaca, N.Y.
Duke finished its regular season with a 12-5 overall record and advanced the ACC Championship game before losing to the NCAA Tournament's No. 2 seed Syracuse, 15-14.
Junior midfielder Myles Jones leads the Duke offense with 39 goals and 36 assists for 75 points, while freshman Justin Guterding is the top attackman with 50 goals and 67 points overall. Jones' 75 points are 11th in Duke single-season history, while his 36 assists are eighth. Guterding, coming off of a four-goal performance against Boston University, ranks 10th on the Blue Devils' single season list with 50 goals and is eight shy of passing Zack Greer's rookie record.
Kyle and Jack Rowe handle the faceoff duties for Duke, winning 275-of-484 (.568) of the restarts on the year. Kyle has taken the majority of faceoffs lately and is 101-of-163 (.620), while Jack is 174-of-321 (.542). Defensively, seniors Brian Dailey and Will Haus anchor the defense. Dailey has been outstanding of late and has 16 caused turnovers and 41 ground balls, while Haus has 13 takeaways and 55 ground balls.
In goal, Danny Fowler has started the past eight games and owns an 11.34 goals against average and a .495 save percentage. Luke Aaron started the first nine games in goal and currently sports an 11.24 goals against average and a .491 save percentage.
Duke is 6-1 at home this season and has advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals in each of its past 10 appearances. The Blue Devils are 14-4 all-time in the NCAA Tournament first round.
