DURHAM, N.C. – Junior back Alyssa Chillano and senior forward Heather Morris represented Duke on the 2016 Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division I All-America teams, as announced by the organization Wednesday.
Chillano was honored with first team accolades and Morris was named to the third team.
The Blue Devils featured multiple All-America selections for the fourth-straight season, while the ACC placed a nation-high 15 players across the three squads.
Chillano was a first-time All-America honoree after leading Duke in points (32) and goals (13) for the season. The Phoenixville, Pa., native ranked among the ACC leaders in both offensive categories as an integral part of the Blue Devils' offensive penalty corner unit. She recorded three multiple-goal games and three game-winning goals in addition to ranking third on the team in assists (6). Chillano once again provided experience in Duke's backfield, helping the squad rank among the top four teams in the country with a 1.48 goals against average.
Chillano was also selected for first team All-South Region and All-ACC distinction this fall.
Morris joined Chillano as a first-time All-American after solidifying her place among the Blue Devils' all-time scoring leaders in her final season. The veteran forward notched 25 points on 11 goals and three assists and turned in three multiple-goal games, including a four-goal performance against James Madison Sept. 11. Morris concluded her career with 32 goals to rank 15th on Duke's all-time scoring list, while her 74 career points tied her for 16th in program history.
A native of Pottstown, Pa., Morris was also a first team All-South Region and All-ACC selection for the Blue Devils. She was chosen to represent Duke in the 2016 Victory Sports Tours/NFHCA Division I Senior Game.
Chillano and Morris helped lead Duke to a 16-4 record and the program's first regular season ACC title in 2016. The squad also made history by reaching No. 1 in the Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I Coaches Poll and earning the No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament for the first time.
