Duke Falls in ACC Championship Semifinal
The Blue Devils were held scoreless for the first 35:56 of the ACC semifinal Friday night as their comeback effort came up just short. The Irish held Duke to just 13 shots in the first half, including only three in the first quarter, while Shane Doss made five second-quarter saves to help Notre Dame to a 4-0 lead early in the third quarter. Jack Bruckner led the Blue Devils with three goals and nearly tied the game in the final seconds before being denied by the post. Duke outscored the Irish 4-3 in the fourth quarter, but a pair of goals 24 seconds apart in the fourth proved to be enough for Notre Dame. Danny Fowler made seven saves in the setback.
Updated NCAA RPI Standings
With one weekend of lacrosse remaining before the NCAA selections are announced May 7 at 9 p.m., on ESPNU, the Blue Devils sit at No. 10 in the RPI. Duke previously was No. 9 before falling to then No. 2 Notre Dame. North Carolina made the jump from No. 11 to No. 9, while Syracuse and Notre Dame are two and three, respectively. Duke owns wins over the current No. 3, No. 9, No. 15, No. 23 and No. 26. The four setbacks are to Nos. 2, 3, 6, and 31. The top eight seeds host the opening weekend either May 13 or May 14 on campus. Boston University, 16th in this week's RPI, is the final opponent for the Blue Devils during the regular season.

Brendan Fowler is winning just under 50 percent of his faceoffs and CJ Costabile leads the former Duke contingent with five ground balls.

Attackmen Jack Bruckner and Justin Guterding kept their streaks going over the weekend, netting three points and at least one goal apiece. The Blue Devils duo holds the Nos. 2 and 3-longest point scoring streak in the nation at 53 and 52 games, respectively. Bruckner, with at least one point in every game since May 26, 2014 has 177 points in that span, while Guterding has scored at least one point in all 52 career games. They both also are riding top 10-goal streaks. Guterding has scored a goal in 24 straight games, the third longest among Division I players, while Bruckner sports a 13-game streak to rank ninth.
Duke Aiming to Add onto May Success
The Blue Devils head into Sunday's game with Boston University sporting a 65-61-1 overall record since playing the first May game in 1938. Under head coach John Danowski, Duke is 31-7 in the month. Duke last lost a regular season May contest in 2004, a 13-7 setback at Army.
NCAA Selection Show Aired on ESPNU
The Division I men's lacrosse NCAA selection show will be aired live on ESPNU Sunday night at 9 p.m. They will reveal which 16 teams made the field as well as the play-in game, the winner of which will play the No. 1 seed.
Rowe on Verge of Top Five
Senior faceoff specialist Kyle Rowe is the active leader and ranked seventh in NCAA history in career ground balls with 471. He needs just five GBs to move to fourth on the list behind Steve Shaw of Delaware. He is 29 shy of reaching 500, a total only three players in history have reached. Kevin Massa of Bryant is the record holder with 753, 200 more than Delaware's Alex Smith. With 775 faceoff wins the Vienna, Va., native ranks tied for eighth in NCAA history and with 25 more wins can be one of seven players in Division I history to reach the 800-win mark. He would need 63 victories at the X to secure a top-five spot at the end of the season. Duke's Brendan Fowler holds the Blue Devil record and ranks fifth all-time with 816 wins.
