Setting the Scene
- Duke looks to keep its momentum with a fourth straight win Friday night against Marquette.

HEADStrong Foundation Game
- Duke and Marquette have joined forces this weekend for an excellent off-the-field cause close to the hearts of respective head coaches John Danowski and Joe Amplo. The two teams will work together to provide publicity for the HEADStrong Foundation and raise money for the organization that helps support families who are battling cancer.
- Founded by former Danowski and Hofstra men's lacrosse player Nick Colleluori, who passed away from Diffuse Large B-Cell non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma, a blood cancer affecting the lymphatic system in 2006. The HEADStrong Foundation is looking for people to support it with any kind of monetary donation possible. Those can donate here. Any amount is appreciated.

Looking At Duke
- Duke stayed put in a tie for third with Denver in the latest USILA Coaches' Poll. The Blue Devils are 11-2 overall and finished 3-1 in the ACC.
- Senior attackman Justin Guterding, who recently took over sole possession of second on the career points and goals charts at Duke, headlines one of the nation's top offenses with 43 goals and 34 assists for 77 points. Rookie Joe Robertson complements him on attack with 36 points. In the midfield, junior Brad Smith has 41 points and graduate student Peter Conley has chipped in 32.
- Defensively, Duke has been outstanding in holding opponents to just 8.00 goals and only 29.4 shots per game. The Blue Devils have held opponents without a goal for 15-plus minutes 16 times this season. Cade Van Raaphorst and JT Giles-Harris anchor the close defense with 14 and 18 caused turnovers, respectively. In goal, Danny Fowler sports an 8.14 goals against average and a .543 save percentage.
- Joe Stein and Brian Smyth are sharing duties at the faceoff X. Stein is 88-of-153 (.575), while Smyth is 66-of-150 (.440). They have 37 and 32 ground balls, respectively.
Last Time We Met
- The Blue Devils outscored Marquette 6-1 in the final 23:46 to come away with an 11-7 road win. Justin Guterding scored three goals and Danny Fowler made 13 saves in the victory. Scouting Marquette
- Marquette comes to Durham with a 6-5 overall record after stunning Providence in overtime 12-11. The Golden Eagles scored four goals in the final 1:37 of regulation en route to the overtime win.
- John Wagner paces the offense with 33 points from 25 goals and eight assists. Anthony Orsini owns 21 points off of 14 goals and seven assists. Marquette is averaging just 8.55 goals per game this season and has scored double digits in four of its 11 games.
- Defensively, Marquette is giving up 9.45 goals per game and allowing teams to shoot 33 percent. Brendon Connolly leads the defensive corps with 15 caused turnovers and 18 ground balls. Noah Richard has seven caused turnovers and 34 ground balls.
- Zachary Melillo handles the faceoff duties, winning 110-of-171 draws (.643) and picking up 44 ground balls.
- In goal, Cole Blazer has started all 11 games and played all but 5:09 this season. He has a 9.26 goals against average and a .477 save percentage. Blazer is averaging 8.55 saves per game.
