The Blue Devil Women's XC Team Heads to Blacksburg, Va., Friday Night
DURHAM, N.C. – Three weeks removed from its fourth place Elon Opener finish that saw three Blue Devils finish in the top-five, Duke sets its sights on another strong outing at neighboring ACC school Virginia Tech in the 6K Virginia Tech Invitational Friday night at 6 p.m.
"We have put in a lot of training the past four weeks and now it's time to put it all together," said head coach Rhonda Riley. "I am looking forward to seeing how our team works together and to get a better feel for how the ACC course will run. It is our hope that this race will better prepare the women for the ACC meet on November 1."
Junior Sara Platek led all Blue Devil runners with a 4K time of 14:11.0 at Elon, earning second overall. Senior Lindsay Billings placed fourth (14:24.3) with junior Leigha Torino right behind her in fifth (14:25.8) at the season opening meet.
Teams participating include American, Clemson, Duke, East Tennessee State, Florida State, Hollins, Miami, Radford and Virginia Tech.
Duke sits at No. 3 in the USTFCCCA Southeast Regional rankings, ahead of host Virginia Tech by two spots.
