In its first season under head coach Mark Gangloff, North Carolina is 2-4 in men's and 3-3 in women's. The Tar Heel women have earned the No. 15 spot in the most recent College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America TYR Poll on Jan. 22.
Â
Saturday is the 80th meeting between the two men's programs. Duke is 6-73 all-time versus the Tar Heels, with wins in the first three meetings and the most recent three meetings. The Blue Devils snapped a 73-meet, 77-year win drought versus the Tar Heels in 2017 as Duke topped UNC 173-126 in Chapel Hill.
Â
The meet this weekend will be the 42nd occurrence for the women. The Blue Devils trail the series 3-38, but are currently on a three-meet winning streak.Â
Â
Last season, Duke swept the Tar Heels for the third consecutive season. The Duke men topped North Carolina 155-145 while the women took down the Tar Heels 165.5-135.5.
Â
A win on Saturday for either team will set the longest Blue Devil win streak over North Carolina in Duke history.
