DURHAM – The Duke volleyball program is set for the first of two road weekends beginning with Clemson Friday at 7 p.m., before a 2 p.m., clash against No. 16 Georgia Tech Sunday. Friday's match in Clemson, S.C., will be streamed on ACCNX while fans can check out RSN for Sunday's contest in Atlanta.
LAST TIME OUT
Duke dropped two matches over the weekend to Miami (0-3) and Florida State (1-3) in Cameron Indoor Stadium. Senior outside hitter
Ade Owokoniran tallied 29 kills in two matches while junior
Moorea Wood posted a career-high 14 against Florida State. Setter
Alex Springate also dished a career-high 48 assists against the Seminoles.
A CLOSER LOOK AT THE SERIES
CLEMSON: Duke and Clemson will meet for the 65th time in program history on Friday as Duke holds a 41-23 lead in the all-time series. The two squads have not met since 2019, but in their last meeting, the Tigers took a 3-2 victory on Oct. 18, 2019. Duke is 16-12 overall in Clemson.
GEORGIA TECH: The Blue Devils hold a 45-23 lead in the all-time series against the Yellow Jackets, but have lost the last three. In its last meeting, Georgia Tech secured a 3-1 victory on April 3, 2021. Duke is 17-13 in Atlanta.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
CLEMSON: Clemson (11-7, 3-4 ACC) is coming off a loss at home to No. 16 Georgia Tech on Wednesday evening and have dropped four of its last five matches. The Tigers are led by Kaylee Martin with 203 kills, followed by Camryn Hannah (197) and Cate Long (122). Setter Mckenna Slavik has dished 489 assists as Clemson is hitting .242 percent as a team to rank seventh in the ACC. At the net, Clemson owns 113.0 blocks, led by Ava Pritchard and Ani Clark each with 44 total blocks.
GEORGIA TECH: Georgia Tech enters the weekend ranked No. 16 in the nation with a 14-3 (5-2 ACC) record, and most recently secured a sweep over Clemson on Wednesday. The Yellow Jackets are led offensively by Julia Bergmann (280 kills), Mariana Brambilla (238 kills) and Biance Bertolino (173 kills) as the team is hitting .272 percent to rank third in the ACC and 18th nationally. Setter Matti McKissock owns an ACC-leading 664 assists as Bergmann leads the conference in kills. Georgia Tech also features five with 100+ digs as the team ranks third in the ACC, led by Bertolino (172).
COLE RANKS AMONG THE BEST

Mackenzie Cole is ranked 28th on the NCAA active career leaders list with 1,492 career digs to date. She needs 166 to move into the top 20. She is also currently tabbed eighth on the Duke all-time charts.
Cole has been one of Duke's top defensive specialists during her time in Durham and has 19 games with 20+ digs. Her career-high of 29 came against North Carolina on November 17, 2018. She also owns 108 service aces, becoming the 18th player in Duke history to reach the milestone. This season, she owns 255 digs for a 4.3 digs/set average to lead the ACC and helps the team to rank sixth. Cole became the 12th person in Duke history with 1,000 digs and 100 aces.
SPIKE OUT CANCER
The Duke volleyball team is excited to continue its partnership with the Duke Cancer Institute's Teen and Young Adult Oncology Program this season with the Spike Out Cancer initiative.
The Blue Devils will dedicate their games against North Carolina (Oct. 22 and Nov. 26) to help raise awareness about and support for teen and young adult cancer. With your support, every spike made by the Blue Devils during these two matches will raise funds for the Duke Cancer Institute's TYAO Program.
In February of 2019, former Duke volleyball player Jessi Bartholomew ('19) was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma shortly after finishing her senior season. She completed six months of chemotherapy as well as two weeks of radiation and is currently in remission.

MARATHON MATCHES
The Blue Devils started the 2021 slate with back-to-back five-set matches and since then, Duke has only played in three that went beyond three: Howard: 4 sets (9/3), Michigan: 5 sets (9/10) and Florida State: 4 sets (10/10). In 2020-21, Duke played in seven five-set matches and went 1-6.
ON PACE WITH AN ACE
Duke leads the ACC in service aces with 99 (1.7 aces/set) as 12 different Blue Devils have at least one.
Gracie Johnson leads the team with 23, followed by
Mackenzie Cole with 22 and
Taylor Cole (17). Johnson sits fifth in the ACC with
Mackenzie Cole in eighth. In 2020, the Blue Devils finished the season with 102 aces and 111 in 2019.
UP NEXT
Duke will remain in the Triangle to take on North Carolina (Oct. 22) and NC State (Oct. 24) next weekend. The match against the Wolfpack will be broadcast on ACCN.
