GREENSBORO, N.C. – Duke redshirt senior
Kaden Russell has been tabbed as the ACC's Co-Wrestler of the Week, following an undefeated day through three matches on Sunday.
Â
A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Russell contributed 16 of the Blue Devils' 89 team points in three wins over Bloomsburg, The Citadel and Presbyterian to lead the team. With the three wins, the Blue Devils (6-4) are off to the program's best start since 2014-15.
Â
Russell opened the day with a win by fall over Bloomsburg's David Tuttle in just 49 seconds. Russell followed it up with an 18-0 technical fall win over The Citadel's Ben Stemmett (3:00) and a 16-0 technical fall win over Presbyterian's Aiden Jean (3:17).
Â
With the three wins, Russell is now 11-6 this season and has set a single season best with five wins by fall on the year. Russell is also 7-2 in dual match action this year, good for the best start of his collegiate career.
Â
Russell and the Blue Devils will be back in action for the Southern Scuffle from Jan. 1-2, in Chattanooga, Tenn., before returning home for a dual against Appalachian State on Jan. 13.
