BATON ROUGE, La. – The wait is almost over as No. 25 Duke softball is set to begin its 2021 campaign at the Tiger Classic, hosted by No. 5 LSU, Feb. 12-14. Duke will play Central Arkansas twice, followed by LSU, McNeese and Kansas at Tiger Park.

SEASON OPENER HISTORY
The Blue Devils look for their fourth season-opening victory as Duke is 3-0 since the program started in 2018. Duke began its inaugural campaign in Boca Raton, Fla., where the Blue Devils defeated Florida Atlantic (4-3) to earn its first program win. In 2019, Duke opened its season in Mexico at the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge, picking up a 7-3 win over conference foe Notre Dame. Last season, the Blue Devils recorded its first run-rule of 2020 with a 11-0 feat against Clemson at the UCF Invitational.
NATIONAL RANKINGS
Duke enters its 2021 campaign ranked No. 25 in the USA Today/NFCA Division I Preseason Coaches Poll, marking the first time the program has started a season ranked. It was also the first time the Blue Devils were ranked in the coaches' poll after receiving votes in the final rankings of 2020. The Blue Devils will also start the season receiving votes in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 Poll.
PRESEASON ALL-ACC; ACC COACHES POLL
Junior shortstop
Deja Davis represented Duke on the All-ACC Preseason Team. The Cerritos, Calif., native had a strong start to her sophomore year, registering a .412 batting average with 21 hits in 19 appearances, before COVID-19 cut the season short. Coming off a program-best start with a 23-4 record, Duke was predicted to finish fourth after a vote by the ACC head coaches.
UP NEXT
Duke will open its home slate hosting the ACC Pod Weekend with Pittsburgh, Virginia, Louisville and Notre Dame, Feb. 18-21 at the Duke Softball Stadium. The Blue Devils will play two three-game series against Pitt and Notre Dame. All nine games, both the Blue Devils and neutral site contests, will be available to watch on ACC Network Extra. As a reminder, Duke University will begin its spring sport seasons without spectators at home events. Contests played on Duke's campus will only include essential game personnel and broadcast media.
