The Opening Faceoff
	- Duke opens the 2021 season against a top-10 opponent in Denver. It is the second time under Danowski the Blue Devils start the year versus a foe ranked in the top 10. The Blue Devils hosted a No. 9 Denver team in 2013, falling to the Pioneers, 14-12.
- Duke features a roster of 56 players this season with 16 of the Blue Devils in their fifth year of collegiate lacrosse. Head coach John Danowski welcomed six fifth-year transfers to the program, while 10 of Duke's 2020 seniors returned to complete their eligibility after being granted an extra year due to the COVID-19 shortened season.
- The Blue Devils have 92 percent of their scoring back from last season and welcome the return of top attackman, Joe Robertson, from injury to bolster the scoring even more. Both Robertson and Joey Manown have over 100 career points, while sophomore Dyson Williams has 30 after just eight games.
- Duke is 11-3 in season openers under Danowski. The Blue Devils fell to Air Force, 14-13, last season. Two of the setbacks are against Air Force, while the third was against the Pioneers in 2013.

We're Back
	- After 332 days, or 10 months and 26 days, the Duke men's lacrosse team is back in action. The Blue Devils last played March 10, 2020, beating Jacksonville, 18-8.
- Denver will be playing its second game of the 2021 season after edging Utah, 9-8, last Saturday.

Defending Home Turf
	- Koskinen Stadium has treated the Blue Devils well over the years, being the home to countless memorable moments.
- Since 2007, Danowski teams are 116-23 at Koskinen for an 83 percent success rate.
Scouting Denver
	- Denver got an early start to 2021, playing Utah last Saturday. The Pioneers, ranked fifth by Inside Lacrosse and seventh in the USILA poll, edged the Utes by a 9-8 score, thanks to a 5-2 run in the third quarter. Ethan Walker led the way with four points (3-1), while Jack Hannah had three (2-1).
- The Pioneers' offense will benefit from the transfer of Yale graduate Jackson Morrill, who sports a 57-game scoring streak and has 215 points to his name.
- At the faceoff X, Alec Stathakis won 7-of-14 draws against Utah and picked up two ground balls. Defensively, Kyle Smith forced three turnovers. In goal, Jack Thompson had 11 saves on 19 shots faced.
