Finesilver Earns 16th Career Dual Win at Virginia

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Duke fell 42-3 to No. 20 Virginia on Friday night in Memorial Gym but not before redshirt junior Josh Finesilver recorded his 16th career dual win.

Finesilver shifted to 3-1 in dual action this season and 16-13 overall after he defeated Denton Spencer 9-2 in the 149-pound bout.

Rookies Logan Agin and Conor Becker put up good fights as well during their matches at 125 and 174 pounds, respectively. Agin started things off for the Blue Devils battling Patrick McCormick but ultimately dropped a close 4-1 decision. Becker got a couple opportunities against Vic Marcelli but couldn't overcome a fast start by the redshirt sophomore and fell 6-3.

Redshirt junior Kaden Russell fended off No. 8 Jay Aiello for much of the 197-pound bout. Unfortunately, the Cleveland, Ohio, native saw Aiello pulled away late for the 6-2 victory.

At the conclusion of the dual, the two schools wrestled six additional exhibition matches. Bryson Neace (157 pounds) and Max Fausnaugh (286 pounds) both earned wins for the Blue Devils after 6-3 and 11-6 decision wins, respectively.

Duke is back on the road when it travels to nearby Raleigh on Friday, Feb. 12 for a 7 p.m. matchup with NC State. That dual will be broadcast live on the ACC Network Extra.
