DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke men's and women's cross country teams are set to compete in the NCAA Cross Country Championships on Monday, March 15. The event will take place on the campus of Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Okla., at the OSU Cross Country Course.
The women's race is set to begin at 12:50 p.m. ET, followed immediately by the men's race at 1:40 p.m. ET.
What to Watch For
- Both teams are competing in the NCAA Championships for the first time since 2012.
- The Blue Devils are one of 31 teams to directly qualify in each field.
- Duke is one of just 15 schools to qualify both teams for the NCAA Championships.
- The women's team enters the NCAA Championships as the No. 19 team in the country according to the USTFCCCA.
Rising Stars
- Competing for the men's team at the NCAA Championships will be seniors CJ Ambrosio, Paul Dellinger, Alex Miley and Josh Romine, junior Chris Theodore, sophomores Zach Kinne and Sam Rivera, and freshman Jared Kreis.
- Ambrosio turned in a strong performance at the ACC Championships with a 16th place finish and a personal best time of 23:35.0 in the 8K for his first career All-ACC accolade.
- As a team, the Blue Devil men have notched six top-10 individual performances this season, with Ambrosio and Kinne each earning two.
High Expectations
- Seniors Amanda Beach, Sara Platek and Michaela Reinhart, sophomores Caroline Howley and Samantha Schadler, and freshmen Victoria Patterson, Charlotte Tomkinson and Kelli Wilson will represent the women's team at the NCAA Championships.
- The trio of Beach, Reinhart and Schadler have combined to notch eight top-10 finishes in just four meets this season.
- The same group took home the top three spots at the Virginia Panorama Farms Invitational, as Beach won the race with a 5K time of 16:53.0.
- Reinhart led the way for the Blue Devils at the ACC Championships, taking fourth place and All-ACC honors in a crowded field with a personal best 6K time of 20:19.3. Schadler also secured All-ACC honors while finishing in 10th place.
