CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Duke baseball team's comeback fell short Saturday morning as the Blue Devils dropped a 4-3 decision to Virginia in game two of a three-game ACC series at Davenport Field.

Duke was led by junior
RJ Schreck at the plate, finishing 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs.

Junior
Jack Carey started on the bump for the Blue Devils. The Summit, N.J., native allowed four runs on seven hits in six innings of work. Carey struck out three duriing his stint on the hill.

Duke (17-18, 8-15 ACC) jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the opening inning after senior
Joey Loperfido scored on a sacrifice fly by graduate student
Peter Matt. Unfortunately, the lead would not last long as Virginia (19-18, 11-15 ACC) answered with four runs in the bottom of the second to take the 4-1 advantage.

Following three scoreless frames between the teams, the Blue Devils sparked a small two-run rally in the sixth inning to cut the deficit down to one. Junior
Ethan Murray hit a single down the third base line to lead-off the frame before classmate Schreck brought him home with a long ball over the left field fence to pull Duke within 4-3.

The Blue Devils had the tying run just 90 feet away in the top of the seventh inning after a single and an error put runners on the corners with one out, but Virginia was able to get out of the jam with a lineout double play.

Freshman
Luke Fox entered in relief for Carey. The southpaw continued his impressive rookie campaign, allowing just one hit and striking out three in two scoreless innings.

Duke and Virginia wrap up the series on Sunday at 2 p.m. at Davenport Field. The game will be broadcast nationally on ESPNU.

Postgame Notes:
	- Loperfido tallied his 32nd run of the season to lead the team.
