
Men's Golf Opens Stitch Intercollegiate Friday in Cary

CARY – The Duke men's golf team is set for its final tune-up before the ACC Championship with the Stitch Intercollegiate at MacGregor Downs GC in Cary that begins Friday.
The 54-hole tournament is scheduled for 36 holes on Friday and 18 on Saturday, with the individual medalist being awarded an exemption into the Rex Hospital Open on the Korn Ferry Tour that will take place June 3-6.
Duke's full roster is scheduled to compete this weekend, with graduate captain Steven DiLisio in the lineup, along with the seniors Adrien Pendaries and Evan Katz and freshmen Ian Siebers and Jimmy Zheng. Playing individually are seniors Qi wen Wong and Drew Powell, junior Quinn Riley and freshman Cameron Martinez-Piedra.
MacGregor Downs will permit spectators for the Stitch Intercollegiate, with certain restrictions in place. Patrons are advised to abide by signage on the golf course property.
Duke joins host NC State, along with Campbell, College of Charleston, Coastal Carolina, Davidson, Denver, East Carolina, East Tennessee State, Elon, Notre Dame and Virginia Tech in the 12-team field.
Each five-man team will play together and the grouping of DiLisio, Pendaries, Katz, Siebers and Zheng will tee off the first tee at 9:12 a.m. on Friday. Duke's individuals are paired together for a 9:15 a.m. tee time on the 10th tee.
Following this weekend's action, the Blue Devils turn their sights to the ACC Championship, which is set for April 23-26 at the Capital City Club in suburban Atlanta, where spectators will also be permitted.
