SARASOTA, Fla. – The Duke Varsity Four boat advanced to the Petite Final, while the Varsity Eight and Second Varsity Eight crews each secured spots in the C Finals on Saturday at the NCAA Rowing Championships in Sarasota, Fla.

The Blue Devils' 2V8 lineup took first place in the C/D semifinals with a time of 6:35.019, pulling away from Tennessee down the stretch to cement its position in Sunday's C Final. Duke led the Lady Volunteers by less than 0.3 seconds after the first 500 meters, but increased the advantage to three seconds at the 1,500-meter mark. The 2V8 will face Navy, Alabama, Princeton, Tennessee and Washington State on Sunday at 8:48 a.m.

Duke's V8 squad also put together an impressive performance, finishing second in the C/D semifinals with a time of 6:29.248. The Blue Devils battled SMU down the course, with the Mustangs holding a narrow 0.7-second lead at the halfway point. Duke would close out the race 1.5 seconds behind, but the second-place finish was good for a spot in the C Final on Sunday at 9:12 a.m.

After placing second in its repechage on Friday, the V4 competed against four teams seeded in the top 10 in the A/B semifinals. Duke crossed the line with a time of 7:20.231, earning a fifth-place finish and a position in the Petite Final on Sunday at 9:48 a.m. The Blue Devils will take on Syracuse, Brown, Rutgers, California and Washington State.
