RALEIGH, N.C. – With help from four home runs in the first inning, the 21st-ranked Duke softball picked up a 10-0 shutout victory over NC State in five frames as junior

Claire Davidson combined for the second no-hitter in program history on Friday evening at the Dail Softball Stadium.
With the win, the Blue Devils improved to 36-10 overall and 23-10 in ACC action as the Wolfpack fell to 25-21 and 15-19 in the five-inning run-rule affair.
Walters earned the start in the circle and pitched two frames in which she struck out two batters and allowed one walk. Davidson (3-0) recorded her third win of her rookie season after tossing three hitless innings, letting up a walk and collecting two strikeouts. The Blue Devils' defense was stellar, turning two double plays on the day.

Deja Davis paced Duke's offense with a 3-for-3 performance while sophomore
Gisele Tapia and senior
Sydney Bolan each tallied a pair of hits. Four Blue Devils recorded two RBIs in Davis, Tapia, Bolan and junior
Kristina Foreman.
Duke got off to a hot start, launching four home runs in the opening frame to jump out to an early 8-0 lead. The Blue Devils tallied seven hits, including long balls from Tapia, Bolan, Foreman and Davis. Davis and Tapia both tallied two hits apiece in the first inning.

Jazmine Moreno scored from first base on an errant throw. Junior
Caroline Jacobsen brought home the last run of the contest with a sac fly for a final score of 10-0.
Duke and NC State continue the series tomorrow with a doubleheader, beginning at 4:30 p.m. at the Dail Softball Stadium. Game one will be televised on ACC Network and game two will follow on ACC Network Extra. Pam Ward and Jenny Dalton-Hill will be on the call for Saturday's twinbill.
