DURHAM – The Duke volleyball team welcomes Wake Forest for a midweek tilt at Cameron Indoor Stadium. First serve is set for 6 p.m., on ACC Network with Alex Loeb and Nicole Branagh on the call.
LAST TIME OUT
Duke tallied its 15th win of the season Friday afternoon with a 3-2 victory over Boston College. Four Blue Devils tallied double-digit kills and two double-doubles as Duke collected its 15th victory this season. The Blue Devils were led by
Gracie Johnson with an impressive 24 kills, followed by
Rachel Richardson with 14,
Rylie Kadel's 11 and
Kerry Keefe's 10.
Devon Chang dished 53 assists while Richardson and
Sydney Yap tallied three aces each.
Nikki Underwood added a career-high 32 digs while
Lizzie Fleming paced the defensive unit at the net with six blocks. Chang reached the 2,000-assist plateau in the victory and now owns 2,017 career assists.
A CLOSER LOOK AT THE SERIES
Duke is 59-19 overall against Wake Forest and have won two consecutive. The two squads last met 10 days prior as the Blue Devils secured a 3-0 sweep in Winston-Salem. Wake Forest's last win at Cameron Indoor Stadium was in 2012.
SCOUTING THE DEMON DEACONS
Wake Forest is 14-12, 6-9 in the ACC and has lost seven of its last nine matches. Most recently, Wake Forest collected a 3-1 victory at Virginia Tech Sunday. The Demon Deacons are led by Paige Crawford with 261 kills and a .207 hitting percentage. Four other players have also tallied over 100 kills: Peyton Suess (205), Olivia Franke (179), Emmy Ogogor (175) and Ashley Slater (138). The Demon Deacons rotate between two setters in Rian Baker and Andrea Fuentes with 493 and 458 assists, respectively. Libero Emma Farrell owns 418 digs to rank fourth in the ACC in total digs and also has 23 aces while Ogogor leads the blocking contingent with 90 blocks that includes 20 solo. As a team, Wake Forest is hitting .218 percent this season to rank seventh in the conference.
