THE OPENING TIP
- Winners of four straight and nine of its last 10, No. 7 Duke begins a three-game road swing Wednesday night at Virginia.

- Junior Wendell Moore Jr., is the only player ranked in the ACC's top 10 for field goal percentage, assists, steals and assist/turnover ratio. He ranks sixth in field goal shooting (.517), third in assists (4.56), ninth in steals (1.59) and fifth in assist/turnover ratio (2.20).
- Sophomore Mark Williams, whose tip-in dunk was the game-winner against Wake Forest with 0.4 remaining last Tuesday, is averaging 13.6 points and shooting 29-of-37 (.784) from the field over the last five games. His 68 dunks are the fourth most in a season at Duke.
- A finalist for the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year, Williams leads the ACC and ranks 11th nationally in blocked shots. He is also the nation's only player shooting .700+ from the field and .700+ at the free throw line (minimum 100 field goal attempts).
- Freshman AJ Griffin is averaging 18.5 points and shooting 33-of-54 (.611) from the field and 15-of-25 (.600) from three-point range over Duke's last five ACC road wins. For the season, Griffin is the team's second-leading scorer in road games with 14.3 points.
DUKE VS. VIRGINIA
Duke leads the series, 122-53, and has won six of the last 10 … In Charlottesville, Duke leads 42-35 and has won six of the nine meetings at John Paul Jones Arena … The last 13 games in the series (Duke, 8-5) have been decided by 10 points or fewer with the average margin just 4.3 points. Five of the last six games in the series have been one or two-point decisions … Earlier this season at Cameron Indoor, Virginia's Reece Beekman hit a go-ahead three-pointer with 1.1 seconds remaining to give the Cavaliers the 69-68 win … In last year's meeting,
Jaemyn Brakefield scored the go-ahead basket on a reverse layup with 1:58 left and Duke came up with a final-possession stop to beat the No. 7 Cavaliers, 66-65, at Cameron Indoor Stadium.Â
SCOUTING THE CAVALIERS
Virginia has won five of its last six and is coming off a 74-71 win at Miami on Saturday getting to 17-10 overall and 11-6 in ACC play … Leading the ACC and 11th nationally in scoring defense, the Cavaliers are yielding just 60.1 points … A pair of transfers are UVa's leading scorers in Jayden Gardner (ECU) -- 15.3 points and Armaan Franklin (Indiana) -- 11.6 points … Virginia (1.43) is third to Duke (1.62) in assist/turnover ratio and the teams are also the top two in the ACC in blocked shots -- Duke at 5.52 and Virginia at 4.67 … Only four teams have scored 70+ versus Virginia -- Iowa (75-74 loss), North Carolina (74-58 loss), NC State (77-63 loss) and Miami (74-71 loss).Â

Virginia's Reece Beekman hit a three-pointer with 1.1 seconds remaining as the Cavaliers knocked off No. 7 Duke, 69-68, on Feb. 7 at Cameron Indoor Stadium … Duke trailed for much of the contest -- and by as many as 12 in the first half -- before a late-game rally gave the Blue Devils a 64-63 lead on

Trevor Keels scored on a put-back a minute later to make it 66-63 and two free throws by Keels broke a 66-66 tie with 88 seconds remaining. A held ball gave Virginia possession on Duke's baseline with seven seconds left, and Beekman's three in the corner from Kihei Clark was the winner … Jayden Gardner scored a game-high 17 for Virginia, and Duke's
Mark Williams played only 19 minutes because of foul trouble but scored 16 on 5-of-7 shooting and 6-of-7 at the free throw line.Â

WILLIAMS: THE NATION'S ONLY 70/70 PLAYER

Mark Williams is the only player in the country shooting better than .700 from the field and better than .700 from the free throw line this season (min. 100 field goal attempts) … The 7-foot-1 center that possesses a 7-foot-7 wingspan is also one of the nation's best rim protectors, averaging 2.89 blocks per game to lead the ACC and rank 11th nationally … His 22 multi-block games this season are tied for the lead by power conference players … The .717 field goal percentage this season would lead the nation, but Williams falls just short of the minimum five field goals per game to qualify (4.6) … Williams is also on pace for one of the best single-season field goal shooting efforts in Duke history, currently ranking second on the list behind only Christian Laettner's .723 in 1989 … Williams, whose tip-in dunk was the game-winner against Wake Forest with 0.4 seconds, is averaging 13.6 points and shooting 39- of-37 (.784) from the field over the last five games … Williams' KenPom offensive rating of 138.0 is the best of any player nationally (min. 15% of possessions used) … His 68 dunks are fourth most in a season at Duke.Â
A LITTLE MOORE OF EVERYTHING
Junior
Wendell Moore Jr., is the only player ranked in the ACC's top 10 for field goal percentage, assists, steals and assist/turnover ratio. He ranks sixth in field goal shooting (.517), third in assists (4.56), ninth in steals (1.59) and fifth in assist/turnover ratio (2.20) … He has 11 games this season with at least 10 points, five rebounds and five assists (10-5-5 games) -- the second-most nationally and most among power conference players … Eight of those 10-5-5 games also include at least two steals -- tied for the most by any player nationally … He joins Wake's Alondes Williams as the only power conference players nationally averaging 13.0+ points, 5.0+ rebounds and 4.0+ assists while shooting .500+ from the field … Moore has five games this season with at least five assists and no turnovers -- Duke is 5-0 in those games. In the win at Clemson, he dished out a game-high eight dimes with no turnovers in 33 minutes … Also one of the ACC's best defensive players, Moore regularly draws the opponent's best offensive match up. This season, opponents are shooting just .320 from the field and .255 from three-point range with Moore as the primary defender … With his 19-10-10 vs. Army, he has one of the 10 triple-doubles in the nation this season. It marked just the fifth triple-double in Duke history and the third under
Mike Krzyzewski … The junior flirted with another triple-double against The Citadel, dropping 22 points, eight rebounds and nine assists, and another against Miami with 12 points, 12 rebounds and seven dimes … Moore's versatility was on full display in the win over No. 1 Gonzaga, as he finished with 20 points, six boards, six assists and a career-high six steals to earn MVP honors in the Continental Tire Challenge.Â
DUKE'S ROAD SUCCESS
Duke's five-game road winning streak is the longest active by a power conference team … The Blue Devils are 6-2 on the road this season -- 6-1 in on the road in the ACC with a scoring margin of +11.9, which is on pace to be Duke's largest on the road in the ACC since 2002 (+12.7) … Duke has trailed for a combined 11:38 on the road in the ACC this season, including never trailing at North Carolina, Louisville and Clemson and for just 1:45 at Notre Dame (when it was 2-0) … Duke has allowed 70+ just once on the road in regulation -- Ohio State (71). The game at FSU was tied at 67 heading to overtime … On the road, Duke is allowing opponents to shoot just .394 from the field and .281 from three-point range -- currently the third best road three-point defensive percentage in program history. The 2012-13 team yielded .252 on the road and .274 in 1998-99.Â
