Kristina Foreman went back-to-back in the third inning on three-run and solo home runs, respectively, before graduate student

Opponent History
Duke vs. Army – Duke trails 0-1
The Blue Devils dropped the lone meeting in the all-time series back in 2019 in a neutral site game in Cathedral City, Calif. Current senior
Kyla Morris is the lone returning Blue Devil from that initial game to record a hit.
The Blue Devils will meet the Norse and Wolverines for the first time in program history.
Scouting The Opponents
Army: After an season-opening win over Cal State Northridge, the Black Knights have dropped their last four games, including one to California Baptist, whom the Blue Devils beat this season. Despite the 1-4 opening, Madi Gilmore is off to a fast start, hitting .417 with a home run and three RBI. Jolie Duong is another key piece of the offense, hitting .385 to begin the year.
Michigan: The No. 19 team in the nation, the Wolverines have played a difficult schedule to open the season, going 6-4 and playing five ranked teams. The Wolverines lost 4-0 decisions to common opponents Oklahoma State and Florida but beat No. 21 LSU and No. 24 UCF in their stint at the St. Pete Clearwater Elite Invitational. Graduate student Kristina Burkhardt makes the offense tick, hitting .448 with 10 RBI, while senior All-American Alex Storako has developed a reputation as one of the top pitchers in the nation, going 4-0 with a 1.04 ERA (33.2 IP) and tallying 58 strikeouts over that span.
Northern Kentucky: The Norse enter the weekend with a 6-4 record, following back-to-back tournaments in South Carolina. Kendyl McKeough has hit safely in seven of 10 games, hitting .375 with three home runs and six RBI and leads an offense that is averaging 5.1 runs per game. In the circle, freshman Alicia Flores is seeing the bulk of the action, going 2-1 with a 3.00 ERA (23.1 IP) and striking out 29.
What to Watch For
- Head Coach Marissa Young returns 17 members of last season's ACC Championship squad, including the first All-American in program history in Deja Davis, as well All-Region honorees Peyton St. George and Shelby Walters in the circle.
- Davis was named preseason All-ACC for the second time in her collegiate career, along with graduate student Jameson Kavel. Kavel is swinging a hot bat this season, hitting .343 with four home runs and 13 RBI.
- Three Blue Devils – Jacobsen, Kavel and Ana Gold -- have started the year on 11-game on base streaks.
- St. George is closing in on 500 career strikeouts, needing 20 to become the first in program history to reach that threshold.
- Kavel is closing in on becoming the first Blue Devil to reach 200 career hits, standing at 198 in her career.
- Crabtree and Kavel could also become the first Blue Devil to 100 career RBI, with Crabtree at 98 and Kavel at 95 entering Wednesday.
- Claire Davidson has now reached base safely in seven of her last nine at bats, hitting two home runs and notching seven RBI in that span.
- Young will coach her first game against her college coach, as Michigan head coach Carol Hutchins makes her first trip to Durham. Young was a three-time All-American pitcher under Hutchins, who is just one win away from becoming the winningest coach in NCAA softball history.
