MAKING WAVES: EYES SET ON NCAAs
Heading into the Last Chance Meet, Duke has enjoyed a successful and exciting season in the pool. The Blue Devils have amassed 44 NCAA 'B' Standard times and each diver has qualified for Zones. This week, Duke is focused on bettering their times for NCAA qualification.
Â
In addition to the 44 NCAA standards, Duke has placed 77 times on the all-time top-10 charts in program history. Sophomore
Sarah Foley highlights the record book with five individual school records this academic year. She is also a member of two relay teams that hold school records.
Â
LAST TIME OUT
A historic ACC Championship culminated in freshmanÂ
Margo O'Meara being named the ACC Championship Diving MVP, as Duke finished fifth and 10th in women's and men's, respectively, to close the 2022 ACC Swimming and Diving Championships at the McAuley Aquatics Pavilion in Atlanta. Â
Â
Duke's women finished fifth with 709 points while the men wrapped up the meet in 10th with 341 points. The fifth-place finish on the women's side matched the 2019 team for the best place in the previous 40 years. Â
Â
"We are extremely proud of all the performances we had this week in Atlanta," head coachÂ
Dan Colella said. "It was a new experience for us to have the women's and men's meets combined and it created a lot of great energy. There were an impressive number of school records and top-10 performances in the meet. For us to move up on the women's side was terrific and it was a battle until the end. We are looking froward to capitalizing on this week at NCAAs back here in Atlanta in two weeks. All in all, a lot of people learned a lot of things for the coming year, and I couldn't be more proud seniors."Â

RECORD BOOK UPDATE: EIGHT TOP-10 TIMES
A successful week at the 2022 ACC Swimming and Diving Championships produced two ACC titles, five All-ACC honors, seven school records and 42 top-10 times in program history.
Â
FreshmanÂ
Margo O'Meara highlighted the week by being named the ACC Championship Women's Diving MVP taking gold in both the one-meter (354.75) and platform diving (324.95) events. The St. Louis, Mo., native also placed fourth in the three-meter competition with a score of 367.10. She is the fourth Blue Devil to earn the honor, joiningÂ
Evan Moretti (2019),Â
Abby Johnston (2010, 2011) andÂ
Nick McCrory (2010, 2011, 2013, 2014).
Â
O'Meara was not the only Blue Devil to excel on the boards over the five-day meet, as sophomoreÂ
Seamus Harding Jr., also earned All-ACC honors in platform diving. The first honor of his career, Harding Jr., finished second in the event with a score of 376.30. The sophomore also qualified for the finals of three-meter diving by scoring a 320.40 in the preliminaries.
Â
SophomoreÂ
Sarah Foley shined in the meet, reaching the finals in all three individual events that she competed in. Foley placed second in both the 200 freestyle (1:43.85) and 200 individual medley (1:54.47) to earn the first All-ACC honors of her career, just a spot behind Olympic medalist Alexandra Walsh. She also placed fourth in the 200 breaststroke with a 2:06.63 finish. All three times were school records and her mark in the 200 freestyle currently ranks in the top-20 nationally.
 Â
Of the 42 top-10 times recorded at the ACC Championships, 25 placed inside the top-5 in program history. The times were nearly evenly split between the women and men, 22 and 20, respectively.
