COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Duke senior libero
Mackenzie Cole is set to participate at the USA Volleyball's Women's National Team Open Program (WNTOP), which will be held at the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs and runs Friday through Sunday.
WNTOP, formerly known as the Open Tryout, is a part of the selection process for the U.S Women's National Team, NCAA Elite Athlete List, and 2022 Collegiate National Team.
Led by U.S. women's head coach Karch Kiraly, the Women's National Team staff and volleyball coaches from around the country, athletes will participate in skill-specific activities and match play throughout the Open Program.
Cole will be one of nine student-athletes representing the ACC.
Cole saw one of the most successful seasons as a Duke libero and was named ACC Defensive Player of the Year and to the AVCA All-East Coast region team. This season, the Oakdale, N.Y., native picked up 427 digs to tie for first in the conference with 4.19 digs per set and spearheaded a defense that ranked sixth in the ACC. She racked up 20 or more digs six times throughout the season and dished 93 assists, the most on the squad behind Duke's two setters. Her 40 aces this season were second most in the conference as Duke finished second in the ACC as a team. She has cemented herself as one of Duke's top defensive specialists during her time as a Blue Devil and is ranked 30th on the NCAA active career leaders list with 1,664 career digs, sitting as the lone ACC member in the top 80.
The 2022 U.S. Women's Collegiate National Team (WCNT) will train on June 19-25 in Anaheim, Calif., alongside U.S. Women's National Team athletes and staff. This immersive training experience will help accelerate the development of top collegiate athletes and give athletes an inside look at the culture and training of Olympic gold medalists.
Due to COVID concerns, spectators will not be allowed in the gym. Fans can watch the WNTOP online on
