Megan McGinnis, all won their respective events Saturday afternoon as the Duke track and field program closed out another strong weekend of competition at the Virginia Tech Elite Meet.
Allen recorded a height of 2.08m (6-9 ¾ feet) to place first in the men's high jump, Mellinger won the 200m event after dashing in a season-best 21.49 seconds, while the women's 4x400m team clocked 3:38.18 to register a season-best performance and take the top spot in the relay.
Along with the trio of top finishes, the Blue Devils posted an additional nine top-five placements during the afternoon.
Saturday began with the women's seeded pole vault where freshman
Paige Sommers' height of 4.09m (13-5 feet) garnered fourth place. In the women's high jump that followed, Marsh also took fourth on a 1.66m (5-5 ¼ feet) measurement. Freshman
Mike Herzog improved upon his triple jump mark in his third consecutive meet and moved into second all-time on the Duke list after turning in a personal-best leap of 15.18m (49-9 ¾ feet).
Duke received personal-best performances in the men's mile run from junior
Rory Cavan, sophomore
Austin Gabay and graduate student
Josh Romine en route to collecting three of the top five placements. Cavan finished as the runner-up and ran his mile in 4:05.11, Romine clocked 4:07.07 to take fourth place and Gabay placed fifth with a 4:07.49 finish.

Jackson Walker and freshman
Beck Wittstadt comprised the team that represented the Blue Devils in the DMR. The group finished in a time of 10:04.09, good for fourth among the field.
The men's 4x400m unit of Mellinger, graduate students

Alex Schwedt and sophomore
Alejandro Rodriguez finished fourth among the field with a 3:15.87 finish. Back on the women's side, Duke's 'B' team of juniors
Halle Bieber and
Lara Kohlenbach along with seniors
Nikki Merritt and
Isabel Wakefield ran the relay in 3:47.52 to take fifth.
Camel City Invitational
Graduate students
Nick Dahl and
Michaela Reinhart represented the Blue Devils at the Camel City Invitational in Winston-Salem, N.C., on Saturday afternoon. Dahl etched his name onto another program list as he took fifth in the men's Mile Run Elite and clocked a converted time of 3:57.08 which set the school record. Reinhart competed in the women's 3000m run elite and placed seventh after finishing in 9:06.97c, improving her No. 2 all-time mark.
