DURHAM – Redshirt senior brothers
Josh Finesilver and
Matt Finesilver have learned their postseason opening round opponents, as the NCAA has released the brackets for the 2022 NCAA Championships in Detroit, Mich.
Â
Josh comes in as the 14th seed at 149 pounds, matching up against 19th-seeded Yahya Thomas of Northwestern. Should Finesilver advance, he would face the winner of the third seed Austin Gomez of Wisconsin, or 30th-seed Marshall Keller of Princeton. Josh's seeding is the highest of his four trips to the NCAA Championships, after being the 27th seed last season.
Â
Matt earned the No. 13 seed at 174 pounds, opening his NCAA run against 20th seed Hayden Hastings of Wyoming. A win by Finesilver could mean an ACC rematch against fourth-seeded Hayden Hidlay of NC State who takes on No. 29 seed Jay Nivison of Buffalo.
Â
Early sessions of the NCAA Championships will begin Thursday, Mar. 17, with coverage on ESPNU with each mat available for viewing on ESPN3. All evening sessions will be shown either on ESPN2 or ESPN as well as ESPN3.Â
Â
Mat assignments and start times will be determined closer to the beginning of the event.
