DURHAM – The No. 7 Duke women's lacrosse (11-1, 3-1 ACC) team is set for a non-conference midweek tilt at Liberty (6-4) on Tuesday. Opening draw is set for 3 p.m., on ESPN+.
OPENING DRAW
Duke and Liberty meet for just the second time in school history. The Blue Devils won the first meeting, 18-6, in 2021. Duke's squad captured its 11th win this season on Saturday at No. 14 Notre Dame. The Blue Devils defeated the Fighting Irish 15-12 and were led by
Catriona Barry with seven points off of six goals and an assist.
A LOOK BACK
The eighth-ranked Duke women's lacrosse team's balanced offensive effort sent it past 14th-ranked Notre Dame, 15-12, Saturday afternoon at Arlotta Stadium in South Bend, Ind. With the victory, the Blue Devils improved to 11-1 overall and 3-1 in conference play and have won five consecutive. Duke's 11-1 record is tied for the best start in 12 games since 2015 when
Kerstin Kimel's squad reached the NCAA semifinal game. The Blue Devils were led by graduate student
Catriona Barry with seven points off of six goals and an assist. She also tallied two ground balls, two caused turnovers and a draw control in her all-around performance. Barry has tallied at least one goal in every game this season and now owns 173 career points. Duke's offensive power overwhelmed Notre Dame as eight different scorers put on a show in South Bend. In addition to Barry,
Olivia Carner added three points while
Maddie Jenner and
Abby Landry each notched two goals. Senior goalkeeper
Sophia LeRose was stellar between the pipes for the Blue Devils with 13 saves for a .520 save percentage. She also picked up four ground balls.
SCOUTING THE FLAMES
The Flames enter Tuesday's contest 6-4 overall and have won three consecutive. Duke will be Liberty's second ranked opponent this season. Offensively, Liberty is led by Jordan Baerga (24G, 6A), Mackenzie Lehman (22G, 8A) and Brooke Bryan (16G, 6A). Liberty features five athletes with 15-or-more ground balls, led by Mia Toscano with 28 ground balls, 18 draw controls and 15 caused turnovers. Goalkeeper Jennifer Soriero has amassed nearly 550 minutes between the pipes this season and owns a 10.98 GAA and a .387 save percentage.
FAST & FURIOUS
Through 12 games, Duke has tallied a whopping 234 goals and 110 assists for 344 points. Its 19.50 goals per game and 28.58 points per game rank first and second, nationally. Duke has proven to score fast and furiously this season and has received scoring contributions from 21 different players. Not only are they scoring in bunches, the Blue Devils are also sharing the ball well, assisting on nearly half their goals with 110 assists on 234 goals, led by
Catriona Barry (24) and
Katie DeSimone (21).
THE ONE-TWO PUNCH

Katie DeSimone have combined for an outstanding 134 points in 12 games. No other duo in Division I has accomplished that this season. Barry owns 49 goals and 24 assists for 73 points while DeSimone has 40 goals and 21 assists for 61 points, proving that not only are they scoring threats, but they dish the ball extremely well. Last season, Barry tallied 35 points to DeSimone's 37.
