DURHAM – No. 12 Duke softball (34-6, 14-2 ACC) is back in action this weekend, traveling to Syracuse for a three-game ACC series at Skytop Softball Stadium.
The Blue Devils will meet the Orange (20-18, 3-13 ACC) on Friday at 3 p.m., Saturday at 1 p.m., and Sunday at 12 p.m. All three games will be streamed on ACC Network Extra.
Last Time Out
The Blue Devils dropped a midweek contest at Liberty, falling 8-3 on Wednesday evening in Lynchburg, Va., to snap an 11-game winning streak.
Kristina Foreman had another big day to pace the Blue Devils offense, driving in all three runs, including her 12
th home run of the season. Foreman tied her single season career-high in home runs and now has 10 RBI over her last three games.

After falling in the opening game of the all-time series, the Blue Devils have rattled off six straight wins, including a four-game sweep of the Orange in Durham last season. Last time the two sides met,
Caroline Jacobsen and
Gisele Tapia each had five RBI days, as the Blue Devils earned one run-rule victory while tallying 31 runs. In the run-rule win,
Peyton St. George tallied a one-hit shutout of the Orange, for the best pitching performance of the weekend.
Scouting The Opponent
Syracuse: At 20-18, the Orange will be seeking wins to move them back into ACC Tournament qualification, currently checking in at 12th in the ACC. The last ACC win for the Orange came against Pittsburgh in early April, but the team has lost five straight to Notre Dame and Louisville. Neli Casares-Maher and Kelly Breen have formed a potent punch for the Orange, with 15 of the team's 25 home runs this season. Casares-Maher is hitting .336 with eight home runs and 28 RBI, while Breen is batting .303 with seven home runs and 28 RBI.

What to Watch For
- Jameson Kavel was named a top-25 finalist for USA Softball's Collegiate Player of the Year on Wednesday. Kavel joins Deja Davis as the only two finalists in program history.
- Kavel has been one of the top doubles' hitters in the nation with 14 on the year to rank 12th nationally. She is closing in on the program's single season record of 15, set by Raine Wilson in 2018.
- Rachel Crabtree is on a lengthy on-base streak, standing at 20 straight games. She owns the program record of 25 set back in 2019.
- Foreman remains on lengthy on-base and hit streaks at 12 consecutive games on-base and nine straight games with a hit.
- St. George ranks 15th in the nation in wins with 17 and needs just three more to set a single season program record.
- In addition to Kavel (doubles) and St. George (wins), the Blue Devils have several other top-25 national marks. Kavel ranks seventh in total bases (112), ninth in slugging percentage (.926), 14th in runs per game (1.12), 15th in home runs (15) and 21st in home runs per game (0.38). Foreman ranks 12th in RBI per game (1.18) and 23rd in slugging (.854) and St. George ranks 16th in saves (three).
- Duke is swinging for the fences this season, ranking seventh in the nation in home runs per game at 1.93 to lead the ACC. Kavel leads the team with 15 on the season.
- With 77 home runs for the campaign, the Blue Devils have already blown past their single-season record of 47 from last year. The Blue Devils have also set a single-season RBI mark with 296 this season.
- The Blue Devils continue to lead the ACC in batting average (.340), slugging percentage (.648), on-base percentage (.431) and scoring (7.72 runs per game), while ranking in the top-10 nationally in all of them, plus home runs per game and doubles per game.
