CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Junior
Garrett Johns, who's representing Duke at the 2022 NCAA Singles Men's Tennis Championships this week, recorded a victory in his opening match to advance to Tuesday's Round of 32.

Johns defeated No. 55 Ryan Seggerman of Princeton 6-2, 6-2, on Monday at the Khan Outdoor Tennis Complex in Champaign, Ill.

With the victory, Johns improves to 19-9 overall in singles play, including an 8-4 mark over nationally ranked opponents.

Johns will face No. 28 Sam Riffice of Florida on Tuesday in the Round of 32. The time of that contest has yet to be determined. Riffice bested No. 9 Cannon Kingsley of Ohio State in Monday's first round 7-5, 6-2.
