DURHAM – Duke women's junior fencer
Christina Ferrari was named Duke's PNC Achievers Student-Athlete of the Week following her performance at the Duke Meet.
Ferrari helped the 12th-ranked women to an undefeated record the featured three top-10 victories Sunday afternoon at Card Gym.
The women captured wins over the No. 1 Notre Dame (16-11), No. 5 Northwestern (15-12), No. 9 Penn State (18-9), MIT (21-6) and Brandeis (24-3).
Ferrari helped spearhead the foil squad to a 5-0 showing with an 8-1 record by going 3-0 against the top-ranked Irish and 2-0 over the Wildcats and Nittany Lions.
The women have tallied seven wins over top-10 teams this season and are now 19-3.
Duke will have a week off of competition to prepare for the ACC Fencing Championship Feb. 25-26 in Chestnut Hill, Mass.
