Blue Devils Finish Undefeated Weekend

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Duke fencing program capped an undefeated weekend in Massachusetts Sunday at the Eric Sollee Invitational, hosted by MIT. Fresh off both the men's and women's teams topping No. 1 Harvard Saturday evening, the No. 6 women went 5-0 Sunday while the No. 10 men finished 4-0.

Cumulatively for the weekend, the Blue Devil women were paced by junior foilist Rachel Koo's 14 victories with juniors Kunling Tong (saber), Hava Stone (saber) and Skylar Knight (foil) just behind with 12 wins each. On the men's side for the Massachusetts weekend, Justin Morrill's (saber) nine wins led the way with Joseph Glasson's (foil) eight just a tick behind.

HOW THE ERIC SOLLEE INVITATIONAL HAPPENED

The sixth-ranked Duke women picked up wins over Boston College 18-9, Brown 14-13, NJIT 25-2, No. 2 NYU (DIII) 23-4 and Stevens (DIII) 22-5.
The 10th-ranked Blue Devil men downed No. 12 Boston College 16-11, No. 15 NJIT 15-12, No. 1 NYU (DIII) 15-12 and No. 5 Stevens (DIII) 17-10.
The Blue Devil women were led by the saber group, which finished the day 37-18 with the foil squad right behind at 35-10.
The Duke men had the epee unit post a 24-12 record with the foil group 22-14.

Duke will host its home competition, renamed the Beguinet Classic, on Saturday, February 8. The program will also fence at the Miller Invitational in Chapel Hill, N.C., on February 9.
