DURHAM – Duke men's lacrosse senior
Kenny Brower and junior
Brennan O'Neill were named to the 2023 Tewaaraton Award Men's Watch List as announced recently by the foundation. O'Neill was a Tewaaraton Award nominee a year ago for the Blue Devils.
The Tewaaraton Award annually honors the top male and female college lacrosse player in the United States. The selection committees are made up of premier collegiate coaches and are appointed annually by The Tewaaraton Foundation.
"These student-athletes represent the very best at the collegiate level and have honored the Creator's game with their past play," said Andy Phillips, president of the Tewaaraton Foundation. "We look forward to watching them achieve new heights this season for both them and their teammates."
Brower, an All-ACC and All-America choice a year ago, is the anchor to Duke's close defense. A two-year team captain, the Massapequa, N.Y., native is tied for the team lead in caused turnovers with four through three games. He also has picked up five ground balls.
The fastest player to 100 career goals in Duke men's lacrosse history, O'Neill currently headlines the Duke attack with nine goals and seven assists for 16 points. He recently registered his 13th five-point outing and 21st career hat trick with five goals at Jacksonville. O'Neill has 145 points to rank 32nd in Duke history.
The 13th-ranked Blue Devils are 2-1 overall and return home to host Denver Friday at 4 p.m. The game will be televised by ESPNU with Chris Cotter and Quint Kessenich calling the action.
