DURHAM - The Duke swimming and diving program returns to action on Tuesday, Feb. 14 as they open the 2022-23 ACC Championships. The event is hosted by the Greensboro Aquatic Center and runs from Feb. 14-18. The Blue Devils completed the 2021-22 ACC Championships with the women finishing in 5th and the men finishing in 10th.
NOTABLES
The Duke women rose to No. 19 in the country during the month of February, marking the highest ranking this season.
Senior swimmer Emma Shuppertis eighth in the ACC for the 50-backstroke posting a time of 24.22.
The Blue Devils' 200-medley relay team produced the first NCAA A-Cut time of the season at North Carolina, clocking a time of 1:35.98.
Freshman swimmer Martina Peronibroke the pool record and Duke record in the 200-butterfly at North Carolina, posting a time of 1:53.76. The record was previously held by Isa Paez (1:54.93) during the 2017-18 season. Her record-breaking time is first in the ACC and is the sixth fastest nationally.
In the 200-breaststroke, Sarah Foley (3rd) and Kaelyn Gridley(6th) hold top-10 times in the ACC for the event. Foley and Gridley also produced 2024 Olympic Trial Qualifying cuts earlier this season.
Junior diver Emily Rakestrawposted a platform diving score of 253.15 at the Tennessee Invitational earlier this season. Her score is second best in the ACC.
At the NC State Invite, junior David Changand sophomore Jack Christianposted two top-10 performances in program history in the 100-yard backstroke. Chang swam a time of 48.39 for seventh, while Christian clocked a time of 48.50 for 10th all-time.
Graduate student Cole Reznicksecured his first NCAA B-Cut in the final meet of the year at North Carolina, clocking a time of 1:57.61 in the 200-breaststroke and winning the event.
