CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia (50-13) scored five runs in the bottom of the second inning and never looked back, defeating Duke (39-24) 12-2 on Sunday afternoon. The 39 wins by the Blue Devils are the second most under head coach Chris Pollard, behind the 2018 team who won 45 games.

Junior Jay Beshears hit a two-run blast to left field in the top of the sixth inning, cutting the Virginia lead to three. Beshears finished the day 3-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Virginia opened the scoring in the bottom of the second inning, 5-0.
Junior Jay Beshears hit a two-run home run to left field in the top of the sixth inning, 5-2.
The Cavaliers added to their lead in the bottom of the sixth, 9-2.
Virginia added to the lead in the bottom of the seventh, 11-2.
The Cavaliers added on in the bottom of the eighth, 12-2.
