COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. β Duke sophomore
Madison Beach and
Alaina McVeigh have been named to the U.S. U-21 Women's National Team for the upcomingΒ 2025 FIH Hockey Women's Junior World CupΒ (JWC). The team secured qualification last July by finishing second at theΒ 2024 Junior Pan American ChampionshipΒ (JPAC) in Surrey, Canada.
McVeigh and Beach will represent the Blue Devils on the U.S. squad for the JWC set to take place December 1-13 at the National Stadium Sports Park in Santiago, Chile.
"This group brings a strong blend of experience and youth," said head coach Ange Bradley. "Each athlete's strengths complementing another's gaps. Our challenge now is how quickly we can become united after the NCAA season, making our connection and collective play our greatest strength. Together, we will bravely represent the USA with pride, resilience, and a relentless pursuit of a top eight finish."
Beach and McVeigh most recently represented the United States at the 2025 Junior Pan American Games this past August in Asunción, Paraguay. The duo and Duke teammate
Macy Szukics brought home silver from the tournament, falling to Argentina in the final.
A dynamic offensive duo, Beach and McVeigh help power the Duke offense with a combined 11 goals and 15 assists for 37 points. McVeigh is the team's top scorer with eight goals and seven assists for 23 points while Beach has three goals and a team-best eight assists for 14 points.
McVeigh is riding a hot streak, scoring eight points in the past four games. She most recently had a hand in all three goals in the Blue Devils' 3-1 win at Boston College. Beach, a starter in the midfielder, has five points in the past three games and has recorded at least one point in nine of her 14 outings this season.
Duke (10-4) is ranked eighth nationally and hosting No. 5 Wake Forest (Oct. 24) and Old Dominion (Oct. 26) to close out its home regular season slate.
