DURHAM – Senior
RJ Schreck hit a walk-off single down the right field line in the bottom of the 11th inning to lift Duke over No. 10 Notre Dame, 4-3, on Friday night at Jack Coombs Field.

Duke (15-20, 5-12 ACC) clinched the series over the 10th-ranked Fighting Irish (21-7, 8-6 ACC) for its first ACC series win of the season. It was Duke's second walk-off win of the year.

Sophomore
Luke Storm and Schreck led the Blue Devils offensively. Storm finished 3-for-4 with a home run while Schreck went 2-for-5 with a double, an RBI and a walk.

Junior
Marcus Johnson earned his third quality start on the season. The Fontana, Calif., native allowed three runs on five hits and three walks while striking out six over six innings of work. Opposing Johnson, Notre Dame's John Michael Bertrand surrendered two runs on nine hits and a walk in six innings pitched. Bertrand struck out four. Â

The Fighting Irish opened the scoring in the top of the second inning on a two-run home run.

The Blue Devils battled back in the bottom of the fourth inning to tie the game, 2-2. Duke tallied five hits in the frame while both runs were scored on a two-RBI single up the middle by freshman
Alex Mooney.

Notre Dame retook the lead, 3-2, in the top of the sixth with an RBI groundout.

Storm smoked a home run 474 feet to right center field to tie the game in the bottom of the eighth. It was his sixth home run of the season, tying for the second-most on the team.

Mooney drew a one-out walk in the 11th inning to put the winning run on the base paths, before advancing to second on a hit by pitch by junior
Graham Pauley. Schreck singled to provide the win for the Blue Devils.

The Duke bullpen was stellar in closing the game, striking out 10 in five scoreless innings. Junior
Billy Seidl bridged the two-inning gap before closer
Jimmy Loper entered the contest. Seidl recorded four strikeouts to just one hit in two innings of work. In the outing, Seidl threw 21 of his 24 pitches for strikes. Loper earned the win to improve to 3-1 on the season, allowing two hits and one walk while fanning six in three innings of work.

Duke and Notre Dame will conclude the series on Saturday at noon at Jack Coombs Field.
