DURHAM – Duke split a doubleheader against High Point on Sunday afternoon at Jack Coombs Field in Durham.

The Blue Devils (19-23, 8-13 ACC) topped High Point (15-28, 7-8 Big South) in game one of the twin bill, 14-2, but fell to the Panthers 11-0 in the nightcap.

High-scoring seventh and eighth innings and strong pitching lifted the Blue Devils past High Point in game one. After jumping out to a 3-0 lead through the first five innings, Duke scored three in the seventh and eight in the eighth to pull away from the Panthers.Â

Freshman southpawÂ
Jonathan Santucci was electric in his start of game one. Santucci fanned a career-high 10 batters while allowing just one hit and one walk in four scoreless innings. The Leominster, Mass., native continues to find his groove on the bump, having pitched 15.2 consecutive scoreless innings for the Blue Devils.

Offensively, Duke was led by seniorÂ
RJ Schreck at the plate in game one as he finished 3-for-5 and a home run shy of the cycle. SophomoreÂ
Luke Storm and juniorÂ
Chad Knight also recorded multi-hit days, each finishing with a pair of hits and RBIs.

Duke opened the scoring in the first inning as Knight drove in a run with an RBI single. Schreck plated Duke's lone run in the third inning on a balk, while classmateÂ
Damon Lux hit a home run to left field to increase the lead to 3-0. High Point pulled one back in the sixth inning, scoring on an inside the park home run.

The Blue Devils scored three in the bottom of the seventh inning to increase their lead to 6-1. SophomoreÂ
Alex Stone and Schreck doubled in the inning, each plating a run. The Panthers doubled their tally in the top of the eighth with a solo home run.

Duke rattled off eight runs in the eighth inning, the most in a single inning this season, to secure the win in game one. FreshmenÂ

Alex Mooney got the inning going for Duke as Obee scored on a wild pitch, Yu hit a sacrifice fly and Mooney recorded a two-run single up the middle. SeniorÂ
Chris Crabtree hit a pinch-hit double to plate two more runs in the inning. Storm capped the inning with a two-RBI blast to center field.Â

Adam Boucher and graduate studentÂ
Matt Dockman were strong out of the bullpen in game one. Boucher fanned five in two innings of work, surrendering just one run on one hit. Dockman finished the game for Duke, allowing one hit and striking out one in an inning pitched.

In game two, High Point took an early lead and kept it. The game was interrupted in the top of the fourth inning by a nearly two-hour rain delay, and the Panthers were sharp after the break. High Point took advantage of free bases, as Duke allowed 11 walks and hit five batters.Â

Aaron Beasley started on the mound for Duke in game two, allowing two hits and two walks in 1.1 innings of work.

High Point opened the scoring in the top of the fourth inning, scoring a run before and after the delay. The Panthers added to their tally in the top of the fifth, plating five to extend the lead, 7-0. High Point scored four more in the top of the eighth inning to bring the game's final score, 11-0.Â

Duke threatened throughout the game, putting runners on third on two occasions but were unable to plate the run.

Michael Foltz finished the game for Duke on the mound, pitching a clean inning with one hit and one strikeout.
