Duke Rowing Completes Competition in New Jersey

RIDGEFIELD PARK, N.J. – After a two-week break following the San Diego Crew Classic, the Duke rowing team returned to the water Saturday at Overpeck Park, N.J., taking on Columbia and Northeastern. The Blue Devils' 2V8 turned in the day's best performance, placing second.

The 2V4 race began the morning of competition with the Blue Devils finishing third in 7:52.8. Northeastern won in 7:40.9 with Columbia taking second with a time of 7:46.6.

In the varsity four, Duke placed third in 7:59.6 while Northeastern won with a time of 7:30.2 and Columbia finished just behind in 7:33.1.

The action shifted to the eight races with the 2V8 having the third competition of the day. Northeastern and Duke had a tight contest, but a late surge by the Huskies allowed Northeastern to claim the victory with a final time of 6:48.4 before the Blue Devils crossed at 6:51.5. Columbia took third at 6:59.9.

The varsity eight race was also won by Northeastern, which ended in 6:40.5. Columbia placed second in 6:44.1 while Duke took third with a time of 6:49.5.

Duke returns to action next weekend with the two-day Clemson Invitational. Racing begins next Saturday, April 18.
