COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Following a series sweep of Chile earlier this month, the United States women's national field hockey team continues its road to the 2016 Olympic Games with two matches against the Dutch national team and a trip to the Champions Trophy in London. Former Blue Devil Stefanie Fee will join Team USA for both competitions, as announced Monday by U.S. national team coach Craig Parnham.
Fee is one of 19 athletes on the travel roster for the trips to Holland and London. The U.S. will face the Dutch June 8 and June 10, with both contests slated for 7 p.m. local time. Team USA will then head to London to take part in the International Hockey Federation's (FIH) Champions Trophy, which will feature six of the top seven teams in the FIH world rankings. Ranked seventh in the world, the U.S. automatically qualified for the tournament based on its performance at the Champions Challenge in 2014.
The Champions Trophy is slated for June 18-26 at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London.
Fee has been a member of the U.S. national team since graduating from Duke in 2012. The standout defender started every game for the Blue Devils during her four seasons in Durham, garnering All-America, All-South Region first team, All-ACC and ACC All-Tournament Team recognition as a senior.
