DURHAM, N.C. – Duke men's diving senior
Nathaniel Hernandez earned NCAA qualification in a second event during day two of the 2020 NCAA Zone B Diving Championships on Tuesday in Athens, Ga. His sixth-place finish in the one-meter event qualified him for the NCAA Championships in Indianapolis, Ind., March 25-28.
After qualifying in the three-meter yesterday, the native of Southlake, Texas finished sixth in the one-meter event today, scoring 643.15 to earn NCAA qualification. Last season, Hernandez finished eighth on the one-meter boards at the NCAA Championships, earning First Team All-America honors for the first time in his career.
Harel Anolick also competed in the one-meter final for the Blue Devils. Anolick finished the day with a score of 552.75 and in 18
th place.
The Duke women also took the boards, competing in the three-meter event.
Lizzie Fitzpatrick and
Kate Mullin qualified for the finals in the event but finished outside of NCAA contention. Fitzpatrick finished 15th (558.65) while Mullin followed in 18th (541.45).
On the final day of the Zone Championships, both men and women will compete on the platform. The women will compete first at 11 a.m. before the men's preliminaries begin at approximately 3:30 p.m.
