DURHAM, N.C. – Duke senior men's diver
Nathaniel Hernandez placed eighth in the three-meter competition at the 2020 NCAA Zone B Diving Championships on Monday in Athens, Ga. His eighth-place finish qualified him for the NCAA Championships in Indianapolis, Ind., March 25-28.
The native of Southlake, Texas scored a 360.90 in the preliminaries before finishing the day with a mark of 724.65. Hernandez will compete in the three-meter event at the NCAA Championships for the second consecutive season after placing 39
th (289.85) in 2019.
Having qualified for the NCAA Championships in one event, if Hernandez places 12
th or better in the one-meter or platform he will be eligible to compete in those events as well.
The Duke women took the boards in the morning during the one-meter competition.
Maddi Pullinger was the top Blue Devil finisher, qualifying for the finals. She ended in 13
th with a score of 543.95.
Tomorrow brings the men's one-meter competition and women's three-meter competition in Athens. The men begin action at 11 a.m. before the women start at approximately 3:30 p.m.
