DURHAM, N.C. – Graduate student
Gabby Rosenzweig and junior
Maddie Jenner were among the 50 players named to the initial Tewaaraton Award Watch List, as announced by the Tewaaraton Foundation Thursday afternoon.
The Tewaaraton Award annually honors the top male and female college lacrosse player in the United States. The selection committees are made up of premier collegiate coaches and are appointed annually by The Tewaaraton Foundation.
Duke has featured at least two players on the Tewaaraton Award watch list in 19 of the last 20 years since its inception in 2001. Former Blue Devil Katie Chrest received the prestigious honor following the 2005 season.
Rosenzweig is a familiar name on the Tewaaraton Watch List having been selected in 2020 after being an award nominee in 2018 and 2019 during her time at Penn. The graduate student leads the Blue Devils with 17 points off of eight goals and nine assists through six games. Starting every game so far at attack, Rosenzweig has also picked up three ground balls and caused three turnovers.
A native of Annapolis, Md., Jenner appears on the watch list for the first time in her Blue Devil career. As a 2020
Inside Lacrosse first team All-America honoree, Jenner leads the team with 48 draw controls and owns 232 career draws to her name. As a key starter for the Blue Devils, Jenner has accumulated 10 points off of nine goals and one assist and has also collected 10 ground balls so far this season.
Five men's and five women's finalists will be announced in early May. The Tewaaraton Award recipients will be chosen after the conclusion of the collegiate lacrosse season.
As the schedules of most teams remain subject to state and school-specific COVID protocols, the selection committees proceeded on the assumption that all eligible and enrolled student-athletes will have some opportunity to compete this season.
The Blue Devils will take on High Point Thursday evening at 5 p.m., on ACC Network.
