DURHAM, N.C. – The No. 9 Duke women's lacrosse team is back in action for another top-10 contest as it welcomes No. 5 Notre Dame (4-2, 1-2 ACC) to Koskinen Stadium Sunday. Opening draw will be at 1 p.m., on ACCNX.
OPENING DRAW
This weekend marks the 21st meeting between the two squads as Duke holds a 12-8 series advantage, but Notre Dame has won 6 of the last 7 meetings. In their last meeting, the Fighting Irish came away with a 13-9 victory in South Bend, Ind., on March 1, 2020.
Catherine Cordrey and
Katie Cronin each brought in three goals, while goalkeeper
Chase Henriquez added 11 saves in the setback.
LAST TIME OUT
The 10th-ranked Duke squad split with ninth-ranked Virginia last weekend in Charlottesville, Va. The Blue Devils secured a 17-8 win on Friday before falling, 11-14, on Sunday.
On Friday, Duke was led by
Katie Cronin with four goals and an assist, while
Gabby Rosenzweig and
Maddie Jenner also reeled in three goals. Rosenzweig dished three assists in the outing.
Caroline DeBellis and
Olivia Carner added another two goals each, while
Catherine Cordrey,
Catriona Barry and
Olivia Rubin brought in one apiece.
Katie DeSimone notched an assist as five of Duke's goals were aided.
In goal,
Sophia LeRose accumulated nine saves on 17 shots on goal, picked up two ground balls and caused a turnover.
The Blue Devils absolutely dominated the draw control (22-5) as Jenner brought in 15, just one off her career high. Friday marked the third time this year the Annapolis, Md., native registered 15 draw controls.
SCOUTING THE FIGHTING IRISH

Notre Dame is ranked No. 5 in the nation by IWLCA and No. 4 by
Inside Lacrosse with a 4-2 (1-2 ACC) record. Last weekend, the Irish earned a pair of victories over Liberty (19-5) and at #19 Louisville (15-10) to improve to 4-2 overall.
The Irish are led by Samantha Lynch with 20 goals and 24 points. Lynch netted nine goals and totaled 10 points in Notre Dame's wins over Liberty and Louisville en route to earning her second ACC Offensive Player of the Week honor this season on March 23.

The Duke women's lacrosse program is excited to continue its partnership with the Duke Cancer Institute and are dedicating their home contest on Sunday, March 28 against Notre Dame to the Duke Cancer Institute medical staff, patients and families.
The Duke women's lacrosse program has had a partnership with the Duke Cancer Institute for several years and is continuing it by selecting both Dr. Brittany Davidson and nurse Kimberly Ross as honorary captains for the game to highlight the work they do with Ovarian Cancer Patients during Ovarian Cancer Awareness month. Davidson and Ross have been part of the Duke family for over six years.
