DURHAM – No. 18 Duke will make the short trip to Greenville, N.C., to take on East Carolina Wednesday. Opening draw is set for 5 p.m., on ESPN+.
OPENING DRAW
- Duke and East Carolina meet for the sixth time in program history with the Blue Devils holding a 5-0 record in the all-time series.
- The Blue Devils most recently dropped a 16-10 contest to No. 2 Syracuse Saturday. The Blue Devils have gone 1-5 since starting the season 3-0.
SCOUTING THE PIRATES
- East Carolina comes into Wednesday's contest 8-1 overall and has won seven consecutive contests.
- Offensively, the Pirates are led by Caroline Kimel with 48 points from 27 goals and 21 assists, followed by Erin Gulden (25 pts.) and Leah Bestany (23 pts.).
- Defensively, Alexandra Giacolone paces the defense with an impressive 25 ground balls and 16 caused turnovers.
- Goalie Brynn Knight has all decisions (8-1) and boasts a 7.21 goals against average and a .553 save percentage. East Carolina features the third-best defense in the country (7.11 GAA) as Knight is second nationally in save percentage.

- Head coach Kerstin Kimel's daughter, Caroline, is a senior on East Carolina's team. The two squads have met every year since Caroline's freshman year in 2020.
- This season, she leads the team as an attacker with 48 points (27G, 21A) and owns five ground balls and two caused turnovers.
- East Carolina head coach Amanda Moore previously spent five years as an assistant coach under Kerstin Kimel at Duke. Moore was named the first head coach in program history on June 27, 2016.
