TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Duke women's golf team carded the second-lowest 54-hole score in school history with a 30-under-par, 834, and freshman
Katie Li won her first collegiate tournament with a 12-under, 204, to close the FSU Match Up at the 6,250-yard, par-72 Seminole Legacy Golf Club in Tallahassee, Fla.
The Blue Devils registered rounds of 281, 264 and 289 for a tournament-record, 30-under, 834, to win by 10 strokes over host Florida State. It marked the second win of the season for Duke and the 30-under, 834, were both tournament records.
Li, who hails from Basking Ridge, N.J., carded rounds of 66, 66 and 72 for a 12-under-par, 204, to win by three strokes. The 204 was tied for the third-lowest 54-hole score in Duke history on a par-72 course and became the first Blue Devil freshman to win a tournament since Gina Kim in 2018-19. Li is the 16th freshman to win an event in Duke history.

How It Happened
- Katie Li opened her day by going par, bogey and par, but then went for the par-5 fourth green in two, but went over the green. After chipping to nine feet, she drained her first birdie of the day. Li parred the next three holes and then dropped two shots over the following three holes. She was able to once again take advantage of the par five with a birdie on No. 11 and then sank back-to-back 15-footers for birdie on No. 14 and No. 15 to get into the red for the first time on Saturday. Li parred the 16th and 17th holes, before closing with a bogey to finish with an even-par, 72. She hit eight fairways, 15 greens and rolled 34 putts in the final round.
- Both Emma McMyler and Anne Chen closed the tournament in a tie for ninth place with a 4-under-par, 212.
- McMyler registered an even-par, 72, on Saturday as she closed the final 14 holes with a 1-under-par score with three birdies.She parred the first three holes and then suffered a bogey on No. 4. McMyler, who is from San Antonio, Texas, then hit her 50-degree wedge from 104 yards to four feet for birdie on the 345-yard, par-4 seventh hole to return to even.Over her next 11 holes, she played even-par golf.McMyler added a birdie on the par-5 14th as she hit the green in two and 2-putted followed by her third birdie of the day on No. 17 as she sank an 8-footer.She hit 12 fairways and 16 greens on the day.
- After bogeying the first hole, Chen used a half pitching wedge from 106 yards to 17 feet from the cup.She rolled in her lone birdie and then parred the next 10 holes.She closed with a pair of bogeys and four pars to finish with a 74.She hit 14 greens and 14 fairways on the day.
- Coming off a 7-under, 65, the day before, sophomore Andie Smith closed with a 77 to finish with a 2-under, 214, which was tied for 13th.She birdied one par-5 on both nines, while hitting 12 fairways and 12 greens.
- For the second time over the last two days, senior Phoebe Brinker signed for a 1-under, 71, to close the tournament.She finished with a 3-over, 219, which was tied for 24th.She opened the day with a bogey on No. 1, but came back to register back-to-back birdies on No. 3 and No. 4 to get to 1-under.On the par-3, 160-yard third hole, Brinker hit her 8-iron to five feet for birdie and then on the par-5 fourth she went for the green in two and was just short.Brinker, who is from Wilmington, Del., got it up-and-down for birdie.She bogeyed No. 5 and No. 6, but closed strong going 2-under over her final 12 holes.Brinker birdied both par-5's on the back to finish with a 71.She finished the day hitting 15 greens and 12 fairways.
- Playing as an individual, junior Rylie Heflin closed the tournament with a 3-over, 219, which was a season-best tied for 24th.She collected five birdies in the final round as she finished with a 75.Heflin, a native of Avondale, Pa., opened the day on No. 10 and nearly hit the green in two on No. 11, before chipping to a tap-in range for birdie.She had a hot streak on her back nine as she was 2-under over a span of six holes with birdies on No. 1, No. 4 and No. 5.Heflin rolled in a 10-footer on No. 1, before hitting her 54-degree wedge from 95 yards to eight feet for birdie on No. 5.She then sank a 15-footer for birdie on No. 5.
Notes
- Phoebe Brinker now owns 308 birdies over her Duke career to rank 12th on the Blue Devil record charts. She needs one more birdie to move into a tie with Virginia Elena Carta (309).
- Brinker now owns 47 rounds of even or under par over her career and 13 on the season. Her 47 rounds of even or under par moved into a tie for ninth on the Duke career charts.
- Brinker shot 8-under on par-5 holes to rank fourth.
- Anne Chen registered her second top-10 finish of the season and eighth of her career. She shot 2-under on par-4 holes to rank tied for fourth.
- With her tied for 13th finish, Andie Smith notched her sixth career top-20 placement.
- Graduate student Emma McMyler turned in her second top-10 finish of the season and 22nd of her collegiate career.She owns 13 rounds of even or under par on the season and 51 of her career.
- Katie Li led the field with a 13-under score on par-5 holes and with 17 birdies. Prior to this tournament, she had one top-20 finish in six events. Li has now posted even or under par rounds in nine out of her last 12 rounds.
- Rylie Heflin shot 2-under on par-5 holes to rank tied for second for the tournament.
- Li's 12-under, 204, tied the FSU Match Up tournament record held by Beatrice Wallin of Florida State.She shot 13-under on par-5 holes, which led the field along with 17 birdies.
- Duke won the team title with a 30-under, 834, with Florida State (844), Georgia (859), Baylor (861) and SMU (871) rounding out the top five.
- Li won the individual title by three strokes ahead of Lottie Woad of Florida State and Rosie Belsham of Baylor with a 9-under, 207.
- Duke shot 33-under on par-5 holes to lead the field and its 63 birdies led as well.The Blue Devils were 5-over on par-4 holes, which was second.
