Rowing Opens Fall Campaign at Princeton Chase

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Duke rowing team opened its fall season with a full day at the Princeton Chase on Lake Carnegie. The Blue Devils raced a trio of varsity 8+ boats and five varsity 4+ crews.
Duke's top varsity 8+, consisting of Simone Pitre, Isabel Ruby-Hill, Jessica Findlay, Sophie Simister, Alex Stonehill, Elizabeth Horne, Katie Dukovich, Phoebe Donovan and Katherine Maitland placed 17th overall with a time of 15:31.203.
The Blue Devils' second varsity 8+ clocked out at 15:59.382 to take 29th overall while the third crew took 50th in 16:37.910.
Placing the highest of any Duke boat for the day was the top varsity 4+ of Pitre, Ruby-Hill, Findlay, Maitland and Donovan, who took fifth with a time of 17:29.372. The Blue Devils second varsity 4 also claimed a top-10 finish, coming in ninth in 18:01.036.
The fifth 4+ came in 19th with a time of 18:35.203 while the fourth 4+ was right behind in 20th place (18:39.145). Rounding out the Duke performances was the third 4+ with a time of 18:43.288 to finish 23rd.
The Blue Devils will host their class races November 7 at Lake Michie before ending the fall season at the Rivanna Romp on November 14 in Charlottesville, Va.
