Duke Lands 13 on USTFCCCA All-Academic Lists

DURHAM, N.C. -- Ten women and three men from the Duke track and field program received U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic honors for their excellence both on the track and in the classroom during the 2015-16 academic year, as announced by the organization Thursday. A total of 910 women from 192 institutions nationwide and 570 men from 161 institutions earned the honor.
Blue Devil women awarded the accolade by the USTFCCCA included recent graduates Olivia Anderson, Anima Banks, Megan Clark, Madison Granger, Urina Harrell and Karli Johonnot, rising seniors Amarie Bremel and Christine Streisel, rising junior Madison Heath and rising sophomore MacKenzie Kerr. Johonnot headlines the Duke unit, garnered the recognition for the fifth consecutive year, while Banks lands on the list for the fourth time. The award was the third for Clark and Granger and the second for Heath.
For the Duke men, recent graduates Carl Heinz and Shaun Thompson and rising junior Tanner Johnson found their names on the list. Thompson concluded his college career by earning the award for the third time.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track & Field Team, student-athletes must have recorded a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or higher and either finished the indoor regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or the national top 48 in a relay event or participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships during the outdoor season.
