KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Duke track & field program jump started the second day of the Tennessee Relays with 10 top-10 performances and seven personal-bests.
Sophomore Duke football player Jeremy McDuffie has seen great success in just his second outdoor meet on the track & field squad. McDuffie competed in the men's 110m hurdles today and posted a third-place finish in a time of 14.43, the fourth-fastest time in Duke history.
Competing in the men's 400m hurdles for the first time this season was Michael Wilson. Wilson clocked a 10th place 55.63 finish.
Sophomore Liz Lansing hit the track for the women's 1,500m and clocked in at 4:27.54 to take sixth.
After seeing success in the men's 3,000m steeplechase last weekend at the Battle of the Blues, freshmen AJ Eckmann and Adamson Bryant performed well today in Tennessee. Eckmann clocked in a personal-best time of 9:49.39 to take seventh while Bryant garnered ninth in 10:02.49.
The freshmen 800m men's and women's squads have posted impressive performances early in their collegiate careers and Brittany Aveni and Matt Wisner hit the track today to compete. Aveni stopped the clock at 2:11.77 followed by Wisner in 1:52.45 to take seventh and 10th place, respectively.
For the second week in a row, Tionne Barmer registered a personal-best time in the men's 100m. Today, Barmer clocked in at 10.73 to take second in his heat. Barmer also posted a personal-best time in the men's 200m of 22.22.
Cole Hoff recorded a personal-best 14:52.14 in the men's 5,000m.
In field events, Domonique Panton tallied a personal-best mark in the long jump, hitting the sand in a leap of 17-4.75 (5.30).
Freshmen Cassie Martin and Tracy Jander each posted top-10 finishes in women's high jump. Martin notched sixth with a clearance of 5-3.00 (1.60) while Jander garnered eighth by clearing the same height.
Fellow rookie Esteban Suarez claimed sixth in the men's pole vault competition after clearing 15-3.00 (4.65).
The Blue Devils will close out competition at the Tennessee Relays tomorrow at noon. The live ESPN3 broadcast of the final day will also kick off at noon.
