CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. β The No. 4 Duke field hockey team dropped a 1-0 ACC contest against No. 10 Boston College at the Boston College Field Hockey Complex Friday evening.
Duke fell to 12-6 overall and 1-5 in the ACC with the loss, while Boston College improved to 11-6 overall and 4-2 in conference play. The Blue Devils enter the ACC Tournament next Thursday as the six seed and will play at 5 p.m. in Newton, Mass., with their opponent to be determined.
Duke outshot the Eagles 3-0 in the first quarter and led 3-1 in shots and 2-0 in corners at the end of the scoreless first half. Boston College tallied nine shots in the third quarter and registered three penalty corners, but did not find the back of the cage as redshirt senior
Sammi Steele recorded four saves in the quarter to keep the game even at zero.
Boston College's Fusine Govaert scored the lone goal β and eventual game winner - with 9:52 remaining in the contest off a penalty corner.
Boston College led in shots, 11-5, while Duke held a 4-3 advantage in penalty corners.
Duke closes out the regular season Sunday at No. 18 Liberty. Start time is set for 1 p.m. on ESPN+.
