DURHAM, N.C. β The No. 4 Duke field hockey team travels to Newton, Mass., for the last two regular season contests of the season as it takes on No. 10 Boston College Friday evening and No. 18 Liberty Sunday afternoon.
The Blue Devils enter the weekend with a 12-5 (1-4) record and sixth place in the ACC standings. Boston College sits third with a 3-2 conference record, while Liberty is tied for third in the BIG EAST standings with a 4-2 record.
The ranked matchups for Duke will be its 14th and 15th ranked contests of the season. The top-10 showdown against the Eagles will be the seventh of the season for the Blue Devils.

The Blue Devils travel to 10th-ranked Boston College Friday for the ACC regular season finale. Duke has cemented the six seed in the ACC Championship Tournament, while the Eagles currently sit in third place.
Duke's defense has held opponents to just 17 goals on year, boasting a 0.95 goals against average that is good for fourth in the country. Redshirt senior Sammi Steele collected her seventh shutout of the year β and eighth shutout as a team β last Sunday in a 3-0 defeat of Richmond. The defense's 0.47 shutouts per game ranks third nationally.
The Eagles enter the weekend with one of the best offenses in the ACC, as they are tied for second in goals (43) and second in assists (31) and points (117). Margo Carlin leads Boston College in goals (17) and points (38), both of which are second in the conference.
Duke travels back to Boston next weekend to compete in the ACC Championship. The Blue Devil's first game will be at 5 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7 with the opponent to be determined.

Liberty enters the weekend with a 9-6 overall record * and a 4-2 mark in the BIG EAST. The last time the Blue Devils and the Flames met was early last year on August 26, 2018, a game in which Duke bested Liberty 4-3 in overtime.
Liberty's Daniella Rhodes leads the team in goals (12), assists (8) and points (32). Goalkeeper Allison Schaefer has recorded six shutouts and has a 1.32 goals against average on the year.

REGULAR SEASON FINALE
The No. 4 Blue Devils split last weekend's home contests, dropping a 1-0 decision to No. 5 Louisville before shutting out Richmond, 3-0. The ranked matchups against BC and Liberty are the 14th and 15th ranked teams the Blue Devils will face in 2019.
Duke has won five or more road games in every season since 2014 and is one away from keeping that streak alive (4-2). The Blue Devils are 53-27 against ranked foes since 2015. Under the direction of head coach Pam Bustin, Duke is 79-55 when facing ranked teams.
SHUT OUT D
Duke's defense has been spectacular throughout the 2019 season, ranking top-five nationally in both shutouts per game (0.47/third) and goals against average (0.95/fourth). The Blue Devils have registered eight shutouts on the season, matching last year's total. The last time a Duke defense recorded nine shutouts was in 1991, and the all-time record for shutouts in a single season is 11, set back in 1982. Redshirt senior Sammi Steele's 9.50 goals against average ranks fourth best in the nation.
FRESHMAN PHENOM
Freshman Hannah Miller has been one Duke's biggest offensive weapons this season, scoring a team-best 11 goals and tallying 22 points, good for second most on the squad. Among qualifying freshman, Miller's 11 goals rank six among all first-years in the nation. Her multiple-goal game against Richmond last Sunday was her fourth multi-goal contest of the season.
COMMANDER CROUSE
Sophomore Leah Crouse's October is one to remember, as she finished the month totaling six goals, 12 points and three game-winners. The Virginia Beach, Va., native scored her 10th goal of the season against Richmond and is second on the team behind Miller in that category. Her 1.50 points per game ranks sixth in the ACC.
NON-CONFERENCE NOTABLES
Duke is 11-1 in matchups against non-conference teams. Duke recently defeated Richmond of the A-10, 3-0, on Sunday. The Blue Devils' only non-conference loss came against Princeton on Oct. 6, a 5-4 overtime decision. Since then, Duke is 3-0 against non-conference foes.

Opposing teams have been held to 143 shots (8.41 per game) this season, whereas Duke has recorded 232 (13.88 per game) shots thus far. Duke has out-scored its opponents, 40-17, for the year and has held the opposition to just five goals in the first half all season.
